The IRENA NewGen Renewable Energy Accelerator 2026 is a global four-month hybrid program designed to support youth-led startups and businesses working in renewable energy, energy efficiency, and climate technology. Led by the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) with support from the Government of the UAE and partners including Enel Foundation and Social Alpha, this accelerator provides young entrepreneurs with the tools, mentorship, and networks needed to grow and scale their climate-focused ventures.

    About the Program

The NewGen Renewable Energy Accelerator was launched to empower young innovators to play a leading role in the global energy transition. Now in its fourth year, the program continues to support startups that are developing solutions to some of the world’s most pressing climate and energy challenges.

The accelerator runs over four months, combining virtual and in-person engagement. During this period, selected participants will work closely with technical and business experts to refine their business models, improve operational strategies, and enhance their readiness for investment. The program is structured to provide both foundational knowledge and practical support, ensuring that startups can move from early-stage ideas to scalable solutions.

Participants will take part in a series of workshops, webinars, and mentoring sessions designed to strengthen their understanding of renewable energy markets and climate technologies. In addition, the program includes opportunities for direct engagement with investors and industry stakeholders, helping startups build connections that can support long-term growth.

    Why This Opportunity Matters

As the global community accelerates efforts toward a sustainable future, there is an increasing need for innovative, youth-driven solutions in the energy and climate sectors. However, many early-stage startups face challenges in accessing funding, mentorship, and networks that are critical for growth.

The IRENA NewGen Renewable Energy Accelerator addresses these gaps by creating a platform where young entrepreneurs can develop their ideas with guidance from global experts. By supporting startups in renewable energy and climate technology, the program contributes to broader efforts to reduce emissions, improve energy access, and promote sustainable development.

This initiative also highlights the importance of youth leadership in shaping the future of energy. By investing in young innovators, the program helps ensure that diverse perspectives and creative solutions are included in the transition to a low-carbon economy.

    What Participants Will Gain

Participants in the accelerator will benefit from a tailored program specifically designed for renewable energy and climate technology startups. Through structured training and mentorship, they will gain practical insights into business development, market expansion, and investment readiness.

The program offers direct access to experienced mentors and industry experts who provide guidance on refining business strategies and overcoming operational challenges. This support helps participants strengthen their ventures and position them for long-term success.

In addition, startups will have opportunities to participate in pitching events and investment matchmaking sessions. These engagements allow participants to present their ideas to potential investors and partners, increasing their chances of securing funding and scaling their impact.

The accelerator also provides access to a global network of peers, professionals, and organizations working in the climate and energy sectors. This network can be a valuable resource for collaboration, knowledge sharing, and future partnerships.

Furthermore, selected participants may be considered for the IRENA Youth Award, which recognizes outstanding solutions and provides additional support to help scale successful projects.
