Role Overview
The Case Manager will be responsible for conducting clinical case reviews at designated healthcare facilities. The primary focus of the role is to identify instances of fraud, waste, and abuse, as well as to perform morbidity and mortality audits. The position plays a critical role in ensuring that healthcare delivery aligns with established clinical standards, ethical guidelines, and cost-efficiency expectations.
The successful candidate will provide independent, evidence-based clinical insights to support decision-making processes while maintaining professional objectivity and avoiding commercial bias.
Key Responsibilities
The Case Manager will conduct on-site clinical reviews across assigned healthcare facilities, assessing patient cases to determine clinical appropriateness, quality of care, and adherence to established standards. The role involves performing morbidity and mortality audits to evaluate patient outcomes and identify areas for improvement.
Additionally, the candidate will develop structured, evidence-based recommendations following clinical reviews and investigations. They will identify patterns of unnecessary, excessive, inappropriate, or potentially fraudulent healthcare practices and investigate suspected cases of fraud, waste, and abuse at the facility level.
The role also includes documenting findings, preparing detailed reports after facility visits, and escalating critical or high-risk issues to relevant internal stakeholders. The Case Manager will provide independent clinical opinions based on evidence gathered during reviews and collaborate with internal clinical, operations, and quality teams to enhance healthcare delivery.
Professional engagement with healthcare providers and facility representatives is required, alongside maintaining confidentiality, integrity, and objectivity. The candidate must ensure compliance with clinical guidelines, regulatory requirements, and organizational policies, while staying updated on industry standards and best practices.
Requirements
Applicants must possess either a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS or equivalent) or a Bachelor of Nursing Science (BNS). A valid and unrestricted medical or nursing license to practice in Nigeria is mandatory.
Candidates should have a minimum of three years of clinical practice experience, along with a strong understanding of clinical guidelines and standards of care. Experience in clinical audits, case reviews, or hospital-based practice is required.
The role demands a high level of integrity, adherence to medical ethics, strong analytical and reporting skills, and the ability to work independently in field-based environments.
Compliance Requirements
Applicants must have no history of felony or misconduct related to patient care, controlled substances, or professional trust. Candidates are required to disclose any ongoing or pending investigations that may affect their licensure or practice.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in health insurance, claims review, utilization management, or prior exposure to fraud, waste, and abuse investigations will be considered an added advantage.
