    Internship Summary

    CIVICUS is seeking a Civic Space Research Intern to support its global research initiatives, particularly in preparation for the annual People Power Under Attack report.

    The role involves research, data analysis, administrative support, and communication activities aimed at strengthening the CIVICUS Monitor’s civic space tracking and incident recording tools.

    Key Responsibilities

    Research and Data Analysis

    • Support the implementation of the Civic Space Incidents Tool
    • Assist with data coding of civic space incidents
    • Conduct research on civic space issues, including regional case studies and drafting fact sheets for the annual People Power under Attack report

    Administrative Support

    • Assist in organizing workshops and meetings
    • Handle logistical and administrative tasks for the Civic Space Research team

    Communications

    • Contribute to team communication strategies via social media and other platforms
    • Support the creation of communication visuals and content

    Person Specification

    Education and Language

    • Completed bachelor’s degree in international relations, political science, or a related field
    • Excellent written and spoken English

    Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

    • Experience conducting research on human rights
    • Understanding of international human rights frameworks related to freedoms of association, peaceful assembly, and expression

    Desirable Skills and Experience

    • Proficiency in any United Nations language is a plus
