    Since 1960, International Association for Suicide Prevention has provided a vital platform for academics, mental health professionals, crisis responders, volunteers, and individuals with lived experience of suicide.

    With a network spanning 80 countries and numerous special interest groups, IASP promotes evidence-based practices and fosters international collaboration to reduce suicidal behaviors worldwide.

    Position Overview

    International Association for Suicide Prevention is seeking a passionate and experienced Lived Experience Campaigns Officer to help embed the perspectives of individuals with lived and living experience of suicide across all organizational activities.

    This role aims to ensure that the voices of those affected by suicide inform and shape policies, campaigns, programs, and advocacy efforts, fostering a culture of inclusion and meaningful participation.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Champion the inclusion of lived and living experience perspectives across IASP’s internal operations, governance, and external programs.
    • Advise teams and leadership on safe and meaningful involvement of individuals with lived experience.
    • Develop guidance, principles, and practical tools to support lived experience integration.

    • Build and maintain relationships with global lived experience networks, partners, and members.
    • Support policy and advocacy work on issues such as decriminalization, means restriction, digital safety, and AI safety.
    • Contribute lived experience perspectives to policy responses, advocacy materials, and campaigns.
    • Assist in planning and delivering IASP campaigns, including World Suicide Prevention Day.

    • Manage and moderate IASP’s social media channels, ensuring safe and respectful online engagement.
    • Create engaging social media content that elevates lived experience voices and supports advocacy priorities.
    • Foster safe messaging and promote respectful conversations around suicide prevention.

    Person Specification

    Knowledge & Experience:

    • Lived or living experience related to suicidality, suicide bereavement, or mental health challenges.
    • Understanding of mental health, NGO sector, policy, advocacy, and campaigns.
    • Experience in building and maintaining partnerships.

    • Knowledge of mental health research and interventions.
    • Proficiency in digital tools, social media, and communication platforms.
    • Excellent command of English, both written and spoken.

    • Deep understanding of meaningful lived experience involvement.
    • Strong relationship-building skills.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Highly organized with excellent communication skills.

    Candidate Requirements

    • Lived or living experience of suicidality or mental health challenges.
