    Overview

    The Luxembourg Institute of Socio-Economic Research (LISER) is hiring up to two Pre-Doctoral Researchers for the ERC-funded project “Rural Structural Transformation in Developing Countries” (RUSTDEC). This 12-month fixed-term full-time contract offers early-career researchers in economics the chance to gain experience in international research before pursuing a PhD.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Collecting, cleaning, and documenting large datasets
    • Conducting econometric and structural analyses
    • Performing systematic literature reviews
    • Preparing reproducible replication packages for research outputs
    • Collaborating closely with an international research team

    Requirements

    • Master’s degree in Economics (MSc preferred)
    • 1–3 years of research experience
    • Strong programming skills in Stata, R, or Python
    • Additional knowledge of Dynare, GIS, or Matlab is an advantage
    • Excellent written and spoken English (German or French is an asset)
    • Strong interest in development, spatial, and environmental economics
