    Overview

    The humanitarian organization CARE International is currently recruiting a Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL) Officer for its PEACE-RISE Project in Mandera, Kenya. This is a unique opportunity for experienced professionals in monitoring and evaluation to contribute to climate resilience, peacebuilding, and community development in a complex cross-border region.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Designing the MEAL framework, results framework, and indicators
    • Supporting baseline studies, needs assessments, and contextual analysis
    • Developing data collection tools and reporting templates
    • Establishing data management systems and beneficiary databases
    • Integrating gender-responsive and conflict-sensitive approaches
    • Routine monitoring of project activities
    • Data verification and quality assurance
    • Maintaining organized project databases
    • Supporting donor and internal reporting processes
    • Establishing feedback and complaints mechanisms
    • Facilitating inclusive community consultations
    • Tracking and responding to community feedback
    • Documenting lessons learned and best practices
    • Facilitating reflection and learning sessions
    • Supporting knowledge sharing within CARE
    • Participation in coordination meetings, field missions, and other MEAL-related tasks as assigned

    Requirements

    • Bachelor’s degree in monitoring and evaluation, statistics, social sciences, or related field
    • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in M&E/MEAL roles
    • Strong understanding of MEAL systems design and implementation
    • Experience with baseline studies, research, and participatory approaches
    • Proficiency in digital data tools such as ODK, Kobo, CommCare, or SurveyCTO
    • Data analysis, reporting, and dashboard development skills
    • Experience with data quality assessments (DQAs)
    • Knowledge of gender equality and social inclusion approaches
    • Experience in climate resilience, peacebuilding, or natural resource management is an advantage
    • Familiarity with working in ASAL (Arid and Semi-Arid Lands) regions is a plus
