    Overview

    The National Youth Development Agency (NYDA) is offering the National Youth Service (NYS) Incubator Programme, a 12-month capacity-building initiative for young leaders managing youth-focused non-profit organizations in South Africa. It aims to strengthen these organizations by providing practical skills in leadership, governance, and operations to scale their impact.

    Key Responsibilities

    Participants will receive structured support in the following areas:

    • Governance and Compliance: Strengthening accountability, understanding legal requirements.
    • Leadership Development: Strategic leadership training, team and volunteer management.
    • Organisational Capacity Building: Institutional development, growth planning, internal systems improvement.
    • Financial Management: Budgeting, financial planning, resource mobilization, fundraising.
    • Programme Implementation: Project planning, execution, monitoring, and evaluation.

    Requirements

    • The organization must be youth-led, with leaders aged 18 to 35 years.
    • The organization must be based in South Africa.
    • The organization must actively implement youth or community development programmes.
    • The organization must be registered and operational for no more than three years (registered between 2024 and 2026).
    • Not previously funded or participated in this programme.
    • Not older than three years.
    • Must be 100% youth-owned.
    • Not profit-making businesses.
    • Not politically affiliated groups.
    • No reputational, fraud, non-performance, or disclosure risks.
    • Not currently employed full-time in the public service.

    Benefits

    Selected organizations will participate in a comprehensive capacity-building program including coaching, mentorship, and training focused on essential aspects of non-profit management.

    • SARS Tax Compliance Status Pin or Good Standing Certificate
    • Proof of Bank Account in the name of the NPO
    • Treasury Central Supplier Database (CSD) Report
    • Two or more testimonial letters
    • Organisational Profile
    • Directors’ CVs and certified ID copies (not older than six months)
    • Proof of Project Site Address (Lease agreement, Municipal documentation, or Letter from local councillor/tribal authority)

    Organisational Profile Requirements include:

    • Leadership demographics and governance structure
    • Operating location (province, district, municipality, town)
    • Programmes supporting women empowerment and people living with disabilities
    • Number of volunteers and beneficiaries
    • Achievements and milestones
    • Details of past funding and utilization
    • Existing monitoring systems
