Program Overview

The Climate Economics Journalism Fellowship will take place September 17–18, 2026, at NYU Stern’s campus in New York City. The program brings together a small cohort of journalists who will learn from globally recognized experts in climate economics, finance, and policy.

Participants will attend lectures, discussions, and networking events designed to strengthen their reporting skills and deepen their knowledge of the economic impacts of climate change.

The fellowship is organized by the Climate Finance Initiative at NYU Stern and includes contributions from faculty across New York University.

Financial Support

NYU Stern fully funds the fellowship program.

Selected fellows will receive:

• $2,000 stipend for journalists residing outside the New York Metro Area to cover travel and accommodation

• $1,000 stipend for journalists residing within the New York Metro Area

• All program costs covered, including meals and event participation

This support ensures that journalists from different regions can participate without financial barriers.

What Fellows Will Learn

The program is designed for journalists who want to better understand how climate change influences economic systems and financial markets.

Sessions will explore key topics such as:

• Climate risks to financial stability

• The impact of climate change on housing and insurance markets
