    Overview

    This opportunity offers two fully funded full-time PhD positions at Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB) focused on climate change and international human rights law through the TEMPORALAW research project, running from 2026 to 2031.

    Eligibility

    Applicants should hold a Master’s degree in law or a related field before the PhD begins. Preferred specializations include:

    • Human rights law
    • Public international law
    • Climate law
    • Environmental law

    Additional requirements include:

    • Strong English-language proficiency
    • Knowledge of climate litigation and human rights debates
    • Interest in combining legal theory and practical research
    • Ability to work independently and collaboratively

    Experience with socio-legal theory and critical legal approaches is considered an advantage. Compliance with residence and permit requirements where applicable is also necessary.
