Eligibility

Eligible applicants are academically strong candidates with a background in social sciences, specifically:

• Hold an Honours or Master’s degree in Human Geography or a related discipline
• Achieve first-class honours (H1) or equivalent academic excellence
• Demonstrate strong research capability in social sciences
• Meet Monash University PhD English language proficiency requirements
• Be eligible for full-time, on-campus doctoral study
• Applicants who already hold a PhD are not eligible.

• Tax-free research living allowance of approximately AUD $37,145 per year (2026 rate)
• Tuition fee scholarship for the full duration of the PhD
• Single Overseas Health Cover (OSHC) for international students
• Research funding for fieldwork, travel, transcription, and conference attendance
