In Nigeria, the Renewed Hope Farm Input Support Programme (FISP) is a federal agricultural support initiative designed to improve food production by providing subsidized or free farm inputs such as fertilizers to verified smallholder farmers.
However, the programme does not operate an open individual online application system. Instead, beneficiaries are selected through verified and validated farmer databases developed through federal and state-level registration processes.
Under the current implementation structure, farmers are identified and screened through official government-supported digital platforms and agricultural extension systems. One of the key entry points is the Integrated Farmers Platform (National Fertilizer Management Platform), which is used to manage access to fertilizer subsidy programs and link farmers to the agricultural value chain. Farmers are encouraged to register their details through this platform for possible inclusion in government agricultural interventions.
Another important database is the National Digital Farmers Registry (NDFR), developed in collaboration with international development partners such as IFAD and Heifer International. This registry serves as a centralized system for capturing farmer information across Nigeria, helping government agencies accurately target beneficiaries for agricultural support programmes, including input distribution and financing interventions.
Despite the availability of digital registration platforms, the most effective pathway to actual physical input distribution remains at the grassroots level. State Agricultural Development Projects (ADPs) play a critical role in identifying, verifying, and recommending farmers for inclusion. Extension officers working under these ADPs are responsible for field verification, farmer group mobilization, and coordination of beneficiary lists.
Farmers are strongly encouraged to join registered cooperatives or farmer associations, as these groups are often prioritized during the selection process. Participation in such groups increases visibility and improves chances of being captured in official beneficiary databases. Additionally, engagement with local government agriculture offices remains essential, as final selections are often validated at the state level before distribution of inputs takes place.
Once successfully verified and selected, approved farmers receive subsidized or free agricultural inputs, primarily fertilizers such as urea and NPK, at designated distribution centers. The aim is to reduce production costs, improve crop yields, and strengthen national food security.
For further enquiries or clarification about the programme, farmers may contact the National Agricultural Development Fund (NADF), which oversees implementation and coordination of aspects of the Renewed Hope FISP initiative. NADF was established to address financial constraints in the agricultural sector and to promote sustainable agricultural development and food security across Nigeria.
Farmers are advised to rely only on verified government channels and official registration systems to avoid misinformation and fraud.
