The Pulitzer Center has officially opened applications for its fifth cohort of the AI Accountability Fellowships, a prestigious global program supporting journalists investigating the real‑world impact of artificial intelligence. As AI systems continue to shape governments, corporations, workplaces, and everyday life, the need for rigorous, human‑centered reporting has never been more urgent.
This Fellowship empowers journalists to pursue ambitious, high‑impact investigations into how AI systems are designed, deployed, and governed—especially in communities where oversight is weak and harms are often overlooked.

Launched in 2022, the AI Accountability Fellowships have become a cornerstone of global AI journalism. Over four years, the program has supported 35 journalists across five continents, enabling groundbreaking investigations that have influenced legislation, informed lawsuits, and sparked civic engagement.
The 2026–2027 cohort will continue this mission by supporting 8–10 journalists worldwide who are committed to uncovering the human, social, political, and economic implications of AI systems.
