Python - Senior Backend Engineer, AI Coding Agent Quality @G2i

Overview

The role is for a Senior Backend Engineer focused on evaluating the quality of interactions with AI coding agents, such as OpenAI Codex and Claude Code. This position is contract-based at a rate of $100–$200/hour, requiring 10–20 hours per week.

Key Responsibilities

• Evaluate AI-generated coding interactions end-to-end.
• Judge whether outputs are useful, correct, and aligned with strong engineering thinking.
• Assess the quality of explanations and reasoning.
• Distinguish between different levels of response quality.
• Provide clear feedback on what worked, didn’t work, or felt misleading.
• Help define what great interactions look like with coding tools.

Requirements

• Staff or Principal-level engineer or equivalent experience.
• Strong background in TypeScript, JavaScript, or Python.
• Hands-on experience with OpenAI Codex, Claude Code, and Cursor.
• Familiarity with AI-assisted development workflows.
• Able to evaluate code without executing every line.
• Comfortable providing direct feedback.
• High standards for good engineering practices.

Nice to Have

• Experience with AI-first IDEs like Cursor.
• Prior exposure to prompt design or evaluation workflows.
• Experience mentoring senior engineers or defining engineering standards.
