    Overview

    Mennonite Economic Development Associates (MEDA) is seeking applications for two remote Monitoring, Evaluation, Research and Learning (MERL) Intern positions to support the Mastercard Foundation Africa Growth Fund. This is an excellent opportunity for early-career professionals to gain hands-on experience in data analysis, impact measurement, and learning within an international development organization focused on poverty reduction and inclusive economic growth.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Manage, analyze, and ensure data quality and usability for decision-making.
    • Organize and analyze data using Microsoft Excel and other tools to identify trends and gaps.
    • Support statistical analysis of key performance and impact indicators.
    • Develop visualizations (charts, graphs, dashboards) to communicate program results.
    • Assist in preparing reports, presentations, and executive summaries.
    • Contribute to internal learning discussions and indicator tracking.
    • Validate outcome narratives against available data.
    • Engage with team members to improve data management processes.

    Requirements

    • Recent graduates or current students in Economics, Statistics, Data Science, Development Studies, Public Policy, or related fields.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
    • Familiarity with Power BI, Stata, R, Python, or SPSS is an advantage.
    • Strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and problem-solving ability.
    • Ability to clearly communicate complex data insights to non-technical audiences.
    • Fluency in English is required; knowledge of French is preferred.
    • Must be able to work legally in their country of residence.
