Research Assistant @ACLED

Overview

This role involves contributing to conflict analysis focusing on Mozambique, supporting data-related tasks, and preparing expert commentary for stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

• Contribute to ACLED analysis by (co)authoring original outputs related to Mozambique.
• Support the Southeast Africa Senior Analyst with data analysis and visualization.
• Review literature and material relevant to analysis projects.
• Liaise with partners to verify information on recent events in Northern Mozambique.
• Prepare expert commentary for outputs produced by the External Affairs team.
• Provide support for answering data-related requests from external parties.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science/Social Sciences/Geography/Conflict Studies or relevant field; Master’s preferred.
• Experience in conflict analysis and knowledge of politics and conflict in Mozambique.
• Familiarity with ACLED data preferred.
• Knowledge of Tableau or other data analysis software is a plus.
• Fluency in English; working knowledge of Portuguese is a plus.
• Strong critical thinking, writing skills, and attention to detail.
• Experience working in a team, meeting deadlines, and receiving feedback.
• Access to a computer, reliable internet, email, and Microsoft Office Suite.
