The Asia Pacific Foundation of Canada (APF Canada) invites proposals for joint research projects between Canadian and Indo-Pacific-based institutions, funded through Canada’s Indo-Pacific Initiative. This grant program aims to strengthen Canada’s ties with the region and produce actionable, policy-relevant insights.
Proposals should address one or more of the following policy areas: economic resilience and security; energy security; defence industrial cooperation; regional security; supply chain resilience; critical minerals; innovation and emerging technologies (including digital governance and AI).
Proposals should include clear headings addressing: Policy Focus & Relevance; Partnership & Roles; Approach & Activities; Outputs & Mobilization.
Annexes (not counted toward 5 pages): Detailed workplan with milestones; Budget with justifications.
Proposals will be evaluated based on policy relevance and potential impact for Canadian stakeholders; feasibility and quality of research design and workplan; strength and complementarity of Canada–Indo-Pacific partnership; clarity and effectiveness of outputs and knowledge-mobilization plan.
