    The United Nations Resident Coordinator’s Office (UNRCO), in partnership with UN Women and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), is seeking applications for the position of UN Coordination Officer – Gender Equality and Youth Development based in New Delhi, India.

    This full-time position offers experienced professionals the chance to work at the center of UN coordination efforts, supporting gender equality and youth development initiatives across the United Nations Country Team (UNCT) in India. The selected candidate will collaborate with multiple UN agencies, government institutions, civil society organizations, development partners, and international stakeholders to strengthen the implementation of sustainable development priorities.

    About the Position

    The Coordination Officer – Gender Equality and Youth Development will work within the Office of the United Nations Resident Coordinator in New Delhi.

    The role is jointly supported by:

    • United Nations Resident Coordinator’s Office (UNRCO)
    • UN Women
    • United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA)

    Under the overall supervision of the UN Women India Country Representative and in close collaboration with the UNFPA India Country Representative, the successful candidate will report day-to-day to the Chief of Staff of the Resident Coordinator’s Office.

    The position plays a strategic role in advancing gender equality and youth empowerment throughout the United Nations system in India.

    India hosts one of the largest United Nations presences globally, with 27 UN entities working across various development sectors.

    The selected officer will support coordination among these agencies and help ensure that gender equality and youth development remain central to UN programmes, policies, partnerships, advocacy efforts, and reporting mechanisms.

    The role contributes directly to the implementation of the United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework agreed between the Government of India and the United Nations.

    Key Responsibilities

    1. Support UN Coordination and Programme Implementation

    The officer will support effective coordination of UN activities under the United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework.

    Responsibilities include:

    • Maintaining communication and information flow among UN agencies.
    • Supporting implementation of UN work plans.
    • Assisting Results Groups and thematic coordination mechanisms.
    • Monitoring programme implementation and progress.
    • Supporting evaluation and reporting processes.
    • Preparing periodic reports and strategic updates.
    • Assisting with development of collaborative and joint programmes.
    • Supporting annual planning and reporting exercises.

    2. Strengthen Gender Equality and Youth Development Programming

    A major component of the role involves ensuring that gender and youth priorities are integrated across UN initiatives.

    Responsibilities include:

    • Conducting gender and youth-focused analysis.
    • Reviewing research, reports, and statistical data.
    • Producing analytical papers and policy inputs.
    • Supporting strategic programming initiatives.
    • Preparing programme and project proposals.
    • Developing resource mobilization strategies.
    • Monitoring implementation of gender and youth initiatives.
    • Supporting field missions and documentation efforts.
    • Assisting other UN Results Groups with gender mainstreaming approaches.

    3. Advocacy, Capacity Building and Knowledge Management

    The officer will help strengthen awareness and institutional capacity regarding gender equality and youth empowerment.

    Responsibilities include:

    • Organizing training programmes and workshops.
    • Facilitating knowledge sharing among stakeholders.
    • Promoting best practices and lessons learned.
    • Supporting advocacy campaigns.
    • Developing communication and learning materials.
    • Producing high-quality knowledge products.
    • Enhancing collaboration between UN agencies, governments and civil society organizations.

    4. Stakeholder Engagement and Partnerships

    The successful candidate will engage with a wide range of partners including:

    • Government ministries and agencies.
    • Civil society organizations.

    Educational Requirements
