Overview
The United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) is offering a traineeship opportunity within its Multilateral Diplomacy Programme (MDP). This traineeship is designed for students and recent graduates interested in gaining professional experience in a multicultural environment.
Eligibility
- Applicants must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate, graduate, or postgraduate degree in fields such as international relations, education, history, law, political science, or languages.
- Or be a recent graduate (within two years of graduation) from the aforementioned disciplines.
- Demonstrate strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Have experience in organizing field visits, events, or online training programmes.
- Possess excellent social and interpersonal skills.
- Have knowledge of the United Nations system and international affairs.
- Uphold UN values including cooperation, respect, and solidarity.
- Assets include:
- Strategic marketing and partnership management experience.
- Digital content creation for social media.
- Existing networks with potential partners and participants.
Benefits
While the traineeship is unpaid, participants will receive a monthly lump sum of CHF 900 to cover transportation and miscellaneous costs.

Key Responsibilities
- Coordinating logistics before, during, and after training activities.
- Facilitating and monitoring face-to-face and online sessions.
- Liaising with partner institutions and participants.
- Managing content on the e-Learning platform.
- Preparing necessary documents and arrangements for visiting participants.
- Supporting programme outreach, communication, and marketing strategies.
- Creating and improving online and training materials.
