The University of Glasgow African Excellence Award is a prestigious scholarship initiative designed to support high-achieving students from across Africa who aspire to become future global changemakers. This award targets academically outstanding individuals who wish to pursue postgraduate taught Master’s level study and who demonstrate a strong commitment to using their education to positively impact their communities and contribute to sustainable development.
Through this scholarship, the University of Glasgow reinforces its commitment to global inclusion, academic excellence, and the empowerment of talented students from Africa by removing financial barriers to world-class education.
The African Excellence Award is offered to international students from Africa who are commencing a one-year postgraduate taught Master’s programme during the 2026/27 academic session. The scholarship provides a full tuition fee waiver, enabling recipients to focus fully on academic and professional development.
Postgraduate diploma and certificate programmes are not eligible under this award.
The scholarship does not cover living expenses, accommodation, travel, or other personal costs.

An offer of admission is not required at the time of scholarship application, but shortlisted candidates must hold an offer to proceed to the interview stage.
Eligible candidates must submit a formal scholarship application through the University of Glasgow’s online system.
Applicants are advised to carefully consider programme-specific application timelines to ensure sufficient time for both academic and scholarship applications.
