Presented annually by the Ottawa Local Immigration Partnership (OLIP) and the Mayor of Ottawa, this prestigious recognition highlights individuals who go above and beyond to make the city more inclusive and welcoming for newcomers.

The Welcoming Ottawa Ambassadors Award shines a spotlight on those individuals—neighbors, coworkers, mentors, and friends—who have helped immigrants and refugees integrate and thrive.

Who Can Be Nominated?

Anyone who has made a meaningful impact in helping immigrants or refugees settle in Ottawa can be nominated. There are no restrictions based on age, profession, or background. Whether it was a one-time gesture or ongoing support, every story matters.

Examples of impactful contributions include:

• Helping someone adjust to a new workplace
• Offering guidance during the early stages of settlement
• Creating opportunities for connection and growth
• Providing emotional or social support during transition

Who Can Nominate?

Nominations must be submitted by immigrants or refugees who have personally experienced the support of the individual they are nominating. There is no time limit—whether your arrival in Ottawa was recent or many years ago, you are encouraged to share your story.

How to Submit a Nomination

To participate:

1. Review the qualities that define a Welcoming Ottawa Ambassador.
