The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), in collaboration with the African Union Commission, the African School of Governance, and the African Women Leaders Network, has opened applications for the inaugural African Academy for Women in Political Leadership. This fully funded continental initiative is designed to strengthen women’s political leadership and increase their representation in governance across Africa.
The programme is fully funded, covering tuition, travel, accommodation, and all related costs for the residential component in Kigali. Participants will also receive mentorship from senior African political leaders and engage in intensive training covering various aspects of political leadership.
Applicants must be nominated by government institutions, political parties, AU bodies, or civil society organizations. Self-nominations are accepted if supported by formal institutional endorsement. Each application must include:
