    Through this collaboration, selected startups gain access to the MassChallenge Switzerland Accelerator in Lausanne, where they receive mentorship, networking opportunities, and strategic support to scale their impact globally.

    Applications for the 2026 Startup Innovation Awards are open until 1 April 2026. The program is open to youth-led startups using technology to transform agrifood systems across several innovation categories.

    This category recognizes startups that develop cutting-edge solutions to improve the sustainability, efficiency, and resilience of food processing systems.

    Fighting Malnutrition and Enhancing Food Security

    Empowering Women in Agrifood Systems

    Special Awards for 2026

    In addition to the four categories, two special awards recognize exceptional innovation and technological impact.

    Startup of the Year Award

    The Startup of the Year SIA 2026 recognizes the startup demonstrating the highest innovation, scalability, and global impact.

    • The winner will receive USD 10,000 from the Seeding The Future Foundation to expand their solution and scale impact worldwide.

    Excellence in Applied AI Award

    The Excellence in Applied AI Award is presented by Extreme Tech Challenge (XTC) to recognize groundbreaking applications of artificial intelligence in agrifood innovation.

    Benefits include:

    • Access to XTC’s global network of investors and innovation teams.
    • Global media visibility through XTC channels.
    • Invitation to attend XTC’s flagship AI conference in California, USA in November 2026.

    Benefits for Selected Startups

    Winning and finalist teams receive a wide range of financial and professional opportunities, including:

    • 29 June – 10 July: MassChallenge Acceleration Bootcamp (Lausanne, Switzerland)
    • 31 August – 4 September: Collaboration events and programme midpoint

    Phase 3 – Demo Day and Judging

    • 29 September: Online demo day for finalists
    • 5–8 October: Pre-final judging

    Phase 4 – Final Pitch and Awards

    • 12–16 October: Final pitches and award ceremony during the WFF flagship event at **Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations headquarters in Rome
    • 29 October: MassChallenge Switzerland Award Ceremony in Lausanne

    Eligibility Criteria

    To qualify for the Startup Innovation Awards, applicants must meet the following requirements:

    • Startups must be youth-led, with at least one founder or C-level executive aged 18–35.
    • Startup representatives participating in pitching and acceleration activities must also be 35 or younger.
    • Startups must have raised less than USD 2 million in capital.
    • Annual revenue must be below USD 2 million.
    • Solutions must demonstrate validated proof of concept, such as pilots, partnerships, or early adoption.
    • The innovation must show scalability and measurable impact on agrifood systems.
