Overview
The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) is offering an exciting internship opportunity for young professionals interested in youth development, public health, and international development. The internship aims to empower young leaders to contribute to youth participation and leadership initiatives across the East and Southern Africa region.
Key Responsibilities
- Supporting the planning and organization of youth-led events, including virtual, hybrid, and in-person programs.
- Promoting UNFPA messaging through youth organizations.
- Contributing to proposals for mobilizing resources for youth programs.
- Supporting communication campaigns, including social media, newsletters, and press releases.
- Supporting development of communication materials.
- Contributing to social media strategies that enhance youth participation.
- Documenting best practices and lessons learned from youth programs.
- Strengthening partnerships with regional youth organizations.
- Supporting knowledge sharing among youth networks.
- Helping map youth-led innovation solutions across the region.
- Contributing to the development of regional youth engagement mechanisms.
Requirements
- Must hold at least a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., International Development, Public Health, Gender or Women’s Studies, Population and Development).
- Postgraduate studies in a related field are considered an advantage.
- Strong interest in international development and sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR).
- Experience working with development organizations or volunteer programs.
- Excellent analytical and writing skills.
- Ability to work effectively in multicultural environments.
- Must be between 18 and 35 years old and fluent in English.
Benefits
UNFPA interns receive a stipend to help cover basic daily expenses during the internship. Candidates must arrange their own medical insurance for the internship period.
