Overview
The MO IBRAHIM Foundation Leadership Fellowship Program aims to prepare the next generation of African leaders by providing them with unique, high-level work opportunities at prominent African institutions. This fellowship focuses on improving economic and social prospects across the continent.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to the design and implementation of strategic assignments under the guidance of senior leadership.
- Develop and implement innovative approaches to strategic issues relevant to the Bank's mission.
- Conduct research and analysis on strategy, programs, and policies.
- Monitor and analyze the implementation of Bank Group initiatives.
- Participate in high-level discussions and prepare briefs for senior management.
Requirements
- African national, residing anywhere in the world.
- Not a current or former staff member of the African Development Bank (AfDB) or have close family relations with one.
- Government officials, active military personnel, and political party leaders are not eligible.
- Age limit: 40 years (men and women), 45 years (women with children).
- A Master’s Degree in a relevant field (banking, business, economics, social sciences, finance, international development).
- At least 7 years of relevant work experience.
- Proven leadership, strategic planning, project management, and policy development skills.
- Strong analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to motivate teams and manage multiple projects.
- Experience in areas relevant to AfDB's High 5 priorities (e.g., energy, agriculture, industrialization, integration, quality of life).
Benefits
- An annual stipend, paid monthly.
- All expenses for official mission travel will be covered by the Bank.
- The Mo Ibrahim Foundation will arrange and cover costs for the Fellow's medical insurance, child education, and retirement plan.
- Travel and shipping costs for assumption of duty and repatriation will be covered by the Foundation.
Location
Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire (with potential for travel to other operational locations of the Bank).
