If you’re an experienced research professional with a passion for data-driven development across Africa, the Afrobarometer Assistant Project Manager role offers a unique opportunity to lead impactful survey projects across multiple countries. This full-time position places you at the heart of one of Africa’s most respected research networks.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate with National Partners (NPs) to develop survey schedules
- Review budgets and ensure cost-effectiveness
- Manage sub-contracts and authorize payments
- Review deliverables such as questionnaires, translations, and reports
- Ensure compliance with Afrobarometer survey protocols
- Provide technical support and training to partners
- Oversee dissemination of survey findings
- Promote research through workshops, conferences, and publications
- Support press releases and global result launches
- Evaluate and recruit new National Partners
- Support special research projects
- Participate in committees and strategic initiatives
- Build stakeholder relationships across Africa
- Contribute to Afrobarometer’s strategic growth
- Encourage innovation and performance excellence
- Update monitoring and evaluation systems
- Prepare technical and financial reports
- Participate in advisory and survey unit meetings
- Support local fundraising efforts for survey activities
Requirements
- Postgraduate degree (preferably in social sciences)
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in survey research (NGO, public sector, or academia)
- Strong analytical, research, and statistical skills (SPSS required)
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Proven project management experience
- Ability to work in multicultural environments
- Willingness to travel across Africa
