The Barbro Klein Fellowship Programme at the Swedish Collegium for Advanced Study (SCAS) supports scholars investigating cultural diversity globally. It encourages innovative and interdisciplinary work in the humanities and social sciences focused on cultural heritage, societal structures, public resistance, and diverse cultural expressions.
Applicants must hold a PhD or equivalent doctoral degree obtained by 1 June 2023, possess a record of independent scholarly achievement with significant publications, and be active in international academic forums. While not requiring a current institutional affiliation, the program particularly encourages early-career scholars from non-Western countries and underrepresented genders.
Fellows typically receive a monthly stipend, and accommodation is generally provided for those residing outside the Stockholm–Uppsala region. SCAS may also assist Stockholm-based fellows with commuting challenges.
Applications must be submitted through the Varbi online system. All required documents must be uploaded before the deadline. For technical questions, contact Varbi support at support@varbi.com. For program-specific inquiries, contact the Barbro Klein Fellowship secretariat at fellowselection@swedishcollegium.se.
1 June 2026 (23:59 CET). Decisions will be communicated via the Varbi system by 28 February 2027.
