    With a focus on the impact of technology on conflict, Build Up seeks a passionate Digital Peacebuilding Associate to support its flagship programs.

    Job Summary

    Build Up seeks a Digital Peacebuilding Associate to support two flagship programs, engaging with peacebuilding efforts that leverage digital technologies.

    The role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to peacebuilding in the digital age by strengthening the capacity of organizations, generating evidence on digital harms, and designing context-specific interventions.

    The position involves working closely with partners to develop tools, methodologies, and practices aligned with non-violent, inclusive, and decolonial values.

    Key Responsibilities

    Digital Conflict Analysis and Peacebuilding Technologies

    • Conduct research on digital harms in conflict zones using participatory and data science methodologies
    • Translate analysis into actionable recommendations for peacebuilding programs
    • Facilitate human-centered design processes to match technology tools with peacebuilding needs
    • Set up and utilize various digital tools for governance, civic engagement, and peace processes

    Partner Support and Co-Design

    • Support project coordination, reporting, and donor engagement
    • Accompany and mentor peacebuilding organizations in integrating technology
    • Collaborate with partners on design, adaptation, troubleshooting, and capacity-building
    • Foster trust and build sustainable relationships across diverse contexts

    Research, Learning, and Facilitation

    • Facilitate workshops and participatory learning sessions
    • Support learning, reflection, and evidence-generation activities
    • Contribute to policy and research outputs to enhance program learning

    Project Management and Coordination

    • Assist with project planning, tracking, and budget monitoring
    • Support cross-partner coordination and deliverable management

    Ideal Candidate Profile

    Thematic Competencies

    • Experience in digital conflict analysis, peacebuilding, governance, or conflict transformation
    • Skills in participatory methodologies, data analysis, and technology integration
    • Ability to translate research into practical peacebuilding interventions

    Personal Qualities

    • Demonstrated project management skills
    • Ability to build trusted relationships with diverse partners
    • Commitment to participatory, locally-led approaches

    • Adaptability in complex, politically sensitive environments
    • Willingness to travel to Latin America, Africa, and Southeast Asia

    Language & Cultural Skills

    • Fluency in English required; Spanish highly desirable
    • Strong cross-cultural communication skills
    • Self-motivated, flexible, and creative problem-solver

    Salary & Contract Details

    Build Up operates as a collective with a needs-based salary model, ensuring transparency and equity.

    Salary will be negotiated based on organizational needs and candidate circumstances.

    The position is initially a one-year contract with potential renewal, following a six-month trial period and review.
