African Centre for Career Enhancement & Skills Support (ACCESS) Announces 3 Fully Funded Postdoctoral Fellowships for Early-Career African Researchers
Early-career African scholars have an opportunity to advance their academic careers through a prestigious postdoctoral fellowship programme at African Centre for Career Enhancement & Skills Support (ACCESS), hosted by Leipzig University in Germany.
The programme has opened applications for three postdoctoral fellowships scheduled to run from September 1 to December 31, 2026.
Designed to support emerging researchers within two years of completing their PhDs, the initiative aims to strengthen research capacity, international collaboration, teaching experience, and academic publication output among scholars from selected African countries.
The ACCESS Postdoctoral Fellowship provides participants with a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in the German higher education environment while collaborating with researchers and academics at Leipzig University.
During the four-month residency, fellows will:

Selected fellows will receive a monthly stipend of €1,300 in line with regulations established by the German Academic Exchange Service.

The African Centre for Career Enhancement & Skills Support (ACCESS) is an international partnership involving institutions from seven African countries and Leipzig University.
Funded by the German Academic Exchange Service since 2020, the initiative focuses on improving graduate employability and strengthening higher education systems across Africa.

The recommendation from the Head of Department must confirm that the applicant will be granted leave to participate in the fellowship if selected.
Applications must be submitted no later than July 1, 2026, at 23:59 German time.
Shortlisted candidates will be invited for online interviews scheduled for July 7–8, 2026. Successful applicants are expected to receive notification by July 10, 2026, and must arrive in Germany by September 1, 2026.
