The Maternal and Child Health (MCH) Section of the American Public Health Association (APHA) has officially opened applications for its 2026–2027 Student Fellows Program.
Graduate and professional students with a passion for advancing maternal and child health now have an opportunity to strengthen their leadership skills and expand their professional networks.
The competitive fellowship is designed to prepare the next generation of maternal and child health leaders by providing participants with leadership development, networking opportunities, and hands-on engagement within one of the nation’s leading public health organizations.
The Student Fellows Program is focused on developing future leaders who are committed to improving maternal and child health outcomes. Throughout the fellowship, selected students will gain valuable leadership experience while connecting with experienced public health professionals, researchers, policymakers, and fellow emerging leaders.
Participants will also be encouraged to remain actively involved in the MCH Section after completing the program by pursuing leadership positions and continuing their membership within the section.

One of the major highlights of the fellowship is the opportunity for Student Fellows to attend the 2026 APHA Annual Meeting & Exposition. The event brings together thousands of public health professionals from across the United States and around the world, providing fellows with unmatched opportunities to learn from experts, share ideas, and build professional connections.
Attendance at the conference also allows fellows to engage directly with leaders shaping the future of maternal and child health while exploring potential career and leadership pathways.
