Overview

The Simons Foundation has opened applications for the 2026 Pivot Fellowship, a prestigious programme designed to support established researchers transitioning into new scientific disciplines.

Eligibility

• Hold a Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent degree
• Be faculty members at an academic institution or hold an equivalent research position
• Demonstrate a strong track record of achievement in their current field
• Propose a transition into a clearly distinct discipline within the natural sciences, mathematics, or related fields
• Secure institutional approval for a full year of leave
• Not hold any concurrent fellowship providing salary support during the training year

Benefits

• Full salary support for one academic year
• $10,000 allowance for research, travel, and professional development
• $50,000 research fund for mentors to support lab activities
• Opportunity for additional research funding of up to $1.5 million after the fellowship
