    ROLE OVERVIEW

    CIVICUS is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Civic Space Research Intern to support its Civic Space Research Cluster. This role contributes directly to strengthening the CIVICUS Monitor, particularly in preparation for the globally recognized People Power Under Attack report. The internship will provide solid exposure to the work of a leading global civil society organization.

    The successful candidate will assist in research, data analysis, and the implementation of tools used to track civic space incidents worldwide, while also supporting administrative and communication activities within the team.     KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    1. Research & Data Analysis

    • Support implementation of the Civic Space Monitor incident tracking tool
    • Assist with coding and classification of civic space incidents
    • Conduct research tasks including data collection and regional case studies
    • Contribute to drafting fact sheets and research outputs

    2. Administration

    • Provide logistical and administrative support for team activities
    • Assist in organizing workshops, meetings, and collaborative sessions
    • Perform other administrative duties as assigned

    3. Communications

    • Support internal and external communication strategies
    • Assist with content creation for social media and digital platforms
    • Develop simple visual materials for communication purposes

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Education & Language:
    • Bachelor’s Degree in International Relations, Political Science, or related field
    • Excellent written and spoken English

    Essential Skills & Experience:
    • Knowledge or experience in human rights research
    • Understanding of international human rights frameworks, especially:

    • Freedom of expression
    • Freedom of association
    • Peaceful assembly

    Desirable:
    • Proficiency in any UN language (e.g., French, Spanish, Arabic)
