Women in Informal Employment: Globalizing and Organizing (WIEGO) is a global network supporting the movement of workers in informal employment, especially women and people living in poverty. We believe all workers should have equal economic opportunities, rights and protections. WIEGO works to expand research and statistics on the informal economy, promote change through policy advocacy, and build collective voice by supporting, strengthening and connecting organizations of workers in informal employment.

The Project

WIEGO is seeking an experienced Project Officer to support the successful delivery of an exciting international climate adaptation project funded by the ClimateWorks Foundation. Working with a consortium of global networks representing workers in the informal economy, you will play a central role in coordinating project implementation, supporting partners, monitoring progress and ensuring high-quality donor reporting. You’ll work closely with the Climate Adaptation Specialist, Project Steering Committee and consortium partners to help deliver a complex, multi-country programme.

The Role

This is a varied role combining project coordination, financial monitoring, donor compliance and partner support. Key responsibilities include:

• Convene, attend and arrange for note-taking of monthly Project Steering Committee meetings.
• Develop an implementation plan for the project.
• Become very familiar with ClimateWorks reporting and results frameworks and support the Networks and their affiliate organizations to prepare reporting according to these requirements.
• Track the project budget, ensuring the project stays within budget.
• Submit project-related invoices and funding requests for payment.
• In collaboration with the Climate Adaptation Specialist, support Networks and affiliates to monitor, document and communicate project outcomes, lessons learned and emerging evidence.
• In collaboration with the Climate Adaptation Specialist, support Networks and their affiliates in troubleshooting issues that arise under the project.
• Prepare initial reports to the donor, for review by the Climate Adaptation Specialist.
• Other duties that may arise over the course of the 2-year project, to ensure the successful implementation of the project.

About You

Essential Criteria

• At least three years’ experience managing projects, including project planning, budget management, monitoring, learning and evaluation (MLE).
• Experience managing donor-funded projects, including donor reporting and compliance requirements.
• Strong organisational and project coordination skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare high-quality reports and work with a wide range of stakeholders.
• Ability to work independently while building effective collaborative relationships across international teams and partner organisations.
• Availability to work up to 10 days a month (7.5 hr day).

Desirable Criteria

• Experience of projects relating to climate change, labour rights and/or urban development.
• Experience working with grassroots organisations, particularly organisations of workers in the informal economy.
• Experience supporting international or multi-partner programmes.
• Knowledge of monitoring, evaluation and learning (MLE) approaches in international development.
• Based in Africa or South-East Asia.

The role will commence in September 2026 and will initially be offered on a fixed-term consultancy contract until 31 March 2027. Subject to satisfactory performance and the continuation of project funding, it is anticipated that the contract will be extended in line with the project, which is expected to run for a total of two years.

Fees will be agreed according to qualifications and experience and will be paid monthly on submission of an invoice and timesheet.

This is a home-based role. The successful candidate will need access to suitable computer equipment and a reliable, high-speed internet connection.
