Overview

The Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) is inviting applications for a Climate Change Consultant to support its international development work. This short-term, home-based consultancy offers professionals the opportunity to contribute to global climate governance by strengthening the role of parliaments in addressing climate change through legislation, oversight, and policy action.

Key Responsibilities

Support the design and delivery of capacity-building programmes aimed at enhancing parliamentary responses to climate change.
Organize training sessions, workshops, and global engagement activities.
Mobilize parliaments and coordinate international events.
Maintain regular communication with partners such as the United Nations Environment Programme and the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change.
Provide technical and administrative support to the IPU Standing Committee on Sustainable Development.
Monitor project budgets and maintain administrative records.
Draft reports for donors and IPU governing bodies and develop content for publication on the IPU website.
Facilitate collaboration between parliaments and climate experts, government ministries, and other stakeholders.

Requirements

University degree in political science, law, international relations, or a related field.
At least three years of experience managing climate change-related projects in an international context.
Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
Fluency in English is mandatory; knowledge of French or Spanish is highly desirable.
