Overview
ICLEI Canada is seeking a Climate Change Project Assistant to support climate adaptation and resilience-building initiatives through applied research, data analysis, and communications across various programs and projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide general support to ICLEI Canada’s Adaptation team, including data analysis, research, stakeholder engagement, resource development, and communications.
- Support the AITI, ORCCA, and other project teams with research, tool development, and resource creation for participants.
- Assist in implementing climate change planning projects with local governments.
- Support the planning and delivery of events such as the Livable Cities Forum and Adaptation Canada 2026.
- Contribute to fundraising efforts for climate-related programs and projects.
- Develop adaptation tools and resources for local governments.
- Research, write, design, and deliver resources to enhance city and stakeholder capacity.
- Organize and deliver workshops, webinars, and presentations related to climate change initiatives.
- Maintain ICLEI Canada’s website and media channels, including online project platforms and social media.
- Collaborate with partners and clients on project development and delivery.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- University degree in environment, urban planning, sustainable development, public administration, or related fields; equivalent experience considered.
- Minimum of 2 years relevant experience related to climate change, urban planning, or sustainability.
- Familiarity with climate change policies at local, provincial, and national levels and understanding of local government operations is an asset.
- Training or experience in climate communications, community engagement, governance, measurement, and municipal financial tools for climate adaptation.
- Strong knowledge of climate action, sustainability solutions, and emerging technologies.
- Tech-savvy problem solver with expertise in Mac systems.
- Excellent research, analytical, writing, and communication skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Bilingualism (English/French) is a strong asset.
- Legally eligible to work in Canada and willing to travel domestically and internationally as needed.
Benefits
- Salary: $60,000–$75,000 annually based on experience and qualifications.
- Work hours: 40 hours/week, flexible schedule.
- Paid time off: 15 vacation days, 5 winter break days, statutory holidays, 12 sick days.
