    Overview

    This role offers the chance to support climate resilience projects across international contexts, providing technical leadership and fostering partnerships to ensure high standards of climate-resilient infrastructure while safeguarding children’s rights.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Provide expert technical input and review for construction components of climate projects.
    • Support the Climate-Smart Education Systems Initiative with design review and sign-off.
    • Ensure project alignment with SCI policies, procedures, and standards.
    • Facilitate cross-sector coordination and maintain relationships with stakeholders, partners, and global teams.
    • Oversee construction monitoring and evaluate project quality, performance, and value.
    • Develop MEAL frameworks specific to construction projects, including indicators and reporting.
    • Promote learning and continuous improvement by capturing best practices and lessons learned.
    • Develop and promote construction technical standards and guidance aligned with SCI and industry best practices.
    • Provide technical advice on planning, design, supervision, and procurement.
    • Advocate for climate-resilient, sustainable, safe, and inclusive construction practices.
    • Design and deliver training, workshops, and coaching for capacity strengthening.
    • Support continuous professional development of staff and partners.
    • Contribute to technical working groups and peer learning networks.
    • Support risk assessment, control, and mitigation strategies for construction activities.
    • Ensure compliance with SCI quality frameworks and regulatory requirements.
    • Promote safety, security, and health standards in all project activities.
    • Maintain a child-safe environment and adhere to safeguarding policies.

    Requirements

    • Degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or related field.
    • Recognized training in Climate Resilient Infrastructure, DRR, and sustainability.
    • Over 10 years of professional experience in the built environment.
    • Minimum 5 years working in development or humanitarian contexts.
    • Expertise in construction methodologies, project management, and sustainable design.
    • Proficiency in CAD software and structural engineering principles.
    • Strong communication skills in English; other languages (French, Spanish, Arabic) desirable.
    • Demonstrated experience with community-led design and participatory approaches.
    • Experience working remotely with diverse teams is desirable.
    • Knowledge of international resilience frameworks (UNDRR, UNESCO, WHO, ISO) is a plus.
    • Experience in education and health sector infrastructure projects.
    • Familiarity with renewable energy technology integration.
    • Senior stakeholder engagement, including government coordination.
