Overview
This full-time position offers an exciting opportunity for a strategic, creative, and collaborative Communications Manager at Climate One, leading content creation, audience growth, brand strategy, and community engagement.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and publish engaging content across website and social media platforms (LinkedIn, Bluesky, TikTok, YouTube).
- Produce weekly email newsletters, episode graphics, and video trailers.
- Implement strategies to grow climate-focused audiences across digital and live platforms.
- Support radio station engagement and retention strategies.
- Cultivate a vibrant listener community through virtual and in-person events.
- Manage paid media campaigns to boost event ticket sales and podcast downloads.
- Track and report metrics and audience feedback.
- Collaborate with leadership to craft a strategic communications plan.
- Support fundraising efforts through production of annual reports and promotional materials.
- Lead promotion for flagship events such as the Stephen Schneider Award, Climate Ride, and SF Climate Week.
- Maintain and enhance the organization’s visual identity through graphic design.
- Handle media inquiries and increase visibility of Climate One’s leaders and initiatives.
- Oversee relationships with creative and communications vendors.
- Maintain and update the Climate One website with technical support as needed.
- Assist with setting up and hosting in-person programs and events.
- Network with attendees and foster connections within the climate community.
- Collaborate with Commonwealth Club staff on joint communication efforts.
Requirements
- Minimum of 3 years in communications and marketing.
- Proven experience in social media, email marketing, SEO, and media outreach.
- Strong writing skills for diverse audiences on climate and sustainability issues.
- Proficiency in graphic design tools (Canva, Adobe Suite), sound editing (Descript, Premiere), and podcast platforms.
- Experience with CRM (Salesforce or similar), CMS (Drupal), and digital productivity tools.
- Data analysis skills and familiarity with video editing software.
- Excellent project management and team collaboration abilities.
- Professional interaction with media, community members, and stakeholders.
Benefits
This position offers a salary range of $75,000 to $85,000, comprehensive health, dental, vision, life, and AD&D insurance, generous holiday and time-off policies, and membership to the YMCA of San Francisco.
The position is hybrid, requiring two days in the office weekly, with occasional in-person meetings and events.
