    Overview

    The Magnum Foundation is offering the Counter Histories Puerto Rico Fellowship, a global program supporting photographers and artists who use photography to reinterpret history and explore social questions related to Puerto Rico and its diaspora. The fellowship runs for eight months from June 2026 to February 2027, culminating in a public symposium.

    Eligibility

    This fellowship is open to photographers and artists whose creative practice engages significantly with photography. There are no formal education or professional experience requirements, making it accessible to self-taught artists, students, mid-career artists, and practitioners who have historically lacked access to formal training. Applications are encouraged from individuals representing diverse backgrounds, including those facing systemic oppression or underrepresentation in the photography field.

    How to Apply

    Submit applications through the online form. Required materials include samples of current and previous work, a short biography, a short description of the proposed project, a list of creative inspirations, a statement explaining the desire to participate, and a description of what the project needs to be completed. Applications can be submitted in English or Spanish. An online information session will be held on March 16, 2026, to answer applicant questions.
