    Job Summary

    The Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is seeking a highly experienced consultant to map and analyze potential humanitarian influencing opportunities within the African Union.

    The successful candidate will possess proven experience engaging with the African Union, demonstrate a deep understanding of the humanitarian and development sectors across Africa, and have influencing experience working with INGOs, UN agencies, or humanitarian coordination mechanisms within African contexts.

    The consultant will examine existing INGO engagement across the AU, identify strategic opportunities for DRC, and provide actionable engagement pathways.

    This project is to be completed remotely over an 8-week period.

    About Danish Refugee Council (DRC)

    The Danish Refugee Council operates across East and Western Africa, including the Great Lakes Region.

    DRC’s influencing work aims to shape international and regional responses to humanitarian emergencies and protracted crises, impact funding decisions, and promote rights-based policies related to forced displacement and refugee rights.

    As crises become increasingly complex and protracted, engagement with continental governance bodies such as the African Union is essential for sustainable, locally anchored humanitarian and development outcomes.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Map and analyze existing INGO engagement with the African Union
    • Identify opportunities for DRC’s strategic engagement within the AU
    • Develop recommended pathways for effective humanitarian influencing
    • Deliver a comprehensive report within 8 weeks, remotely

    Qualifications and Experience

    • Proven experience engaging with the African Union
    • Strong understanding of humanitarian and development sectors in Africa
    • Demonstrated influencing experience with INGOs, UN agencies, or humanitarian coordination mechanisms
    • Ability to analyze complex stakeholder engagement and develop strategic pathways
