    About the Role

    Thematic Focal Points in the #DELIVER unit lead advocacy efforts within their assigned area, coordinating positions, interventions, and campaigns. They act as bridges between youth constituencies, the #THINK unit’s research outputs, and external stakeholders, ensuring that policy engagement is impactful, inclusive, and evidence-based. They report directly to the Director of Advocacy & Campaigns. 

    There is currently a vacancy for the thematic area of education. This thematic area involves championing inclusive and equitable education for migrant and refugee children and youth, emphasizing education as a pathway to empowerment, integration, and peace. This is a fully remote volunteer position, with expectation of 5-7 hours per week. 

    Key Responsibilities 

    • Lead advocacy strategies and initiatives within the assigned thematic area, drafting policy briefs, interventions and talking points for high-level engagements and representing MYCP and youth perspectives externally at relevant events and engagements
    • Collaborate with the Research Leads in the #THINK unit to ensure evidence-driven advocacy and campaigns, building methodologies for increased youth and constituency engagement through collaborations with the #ENGAGE unit, and feeding inputs into MYCP programming within the Secretariat 
    • Creating communications and campaigns around your thematic area, and working with other Thematic Focal Points and supporting Officers on cross-cutting priorities
    • Build relationships with key governments, UN agencies, NGOs and youth networks around your thematic area, working closely with the MYCP International Representatives
    • Oversee, engage and support the Advocacy & Campaigns officers 

    Person Specification

    • Aged between 18 and 30 years old
    • Background in advocacy, policy engagement, or campaigning around one or more of the available thematic issues
    • Familiarity with migration governance, human rights, or global policy processes 
    • Understanding of migration and migration policy issues, preferably with lived experience 
    • Excellent writing, public speaking and communication skills and command of English (fluency in one or more other UN languages is desirable)
    • Collaborative mindset and commitment to youth empowerment and MYCP’s values
    • Organised, reliable, and proactive problem-solver
