About the Role
MYCP is looking for a Social Media Officer to lead the day-to-day execution of our digital communications; translating youth-led advocacy into compelling, rights-based content that reaches and moves global audiences.
The Social Media Officer supports the development and execution of MYCP’s digital communications, helping amplify youth voices and advocacy efforts across social media platforms. Working closely with the communications team, the officer will co-develop an aesthetic vision and engagement plan that strengthens MYCP’s online presence, translates advocacy into accessible content, and fosters meaningful engagement with global audiences. This role offers hands-on experience in digital storytelling, campaign communications, and social media strategy within an international youth-led organisation. The officer reports to the Communications Lead.
This is a fully remote volunteer position, with an expected commitment of 5–7 hours per week.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage MYCP’s social media channels day-to-day across Instagram, LinkedIn, and X; including scheduling, posting, and real-time engagement
- Create content for different formats; copy for graphics, captions, short-form video scripts, stories, that communicates MYCP’s advocacy, campaigns, and organisational updates
- Collaborate with Graphic Design Officer to create visually engaging assets
- Collaborate with advocacy, research, and engagement teams to translate policy and programme work into accessible and compelling digital content
- Assist in planning and delivering social media campaigns around key international days, events, and organisational priorities
- Monitor platform performance and audience engagement, contributing recommendations based on analytics and emerging trends
- Work within MYCP’s editorial calendar and contribute to content planning
Person Specification
- Aged between 18 and 30 years old
- Interest in social media, digital communications, marketing, journalism, or related fields
- Strong understanding of major social media platforms and current digital trends
- Experience creating social media content for organisations, campaigns, student groups, or personal projects is desirable
- Understanding of rights-based communications and ethical storytelling — or strong willingness to learn and apply MYCP’s framework
- Excellent written communication skills and strong command of English (knowledge of additional UN languages is an advantage)
- Creative, detail-oriented, and able to communicate complex ideas in an engaging and accessible way
- Organised, reliable, proactive, and able to manage multiple tasks in a collaborative remote environment
- Commitment to youth leadership, inclusion, and MYCP’s values
We strongly encourage applications from individuals with lived experience of migration, displacement, or statelessness, and from underrepresented communities.
