    Overview

    The Equersa Accessibility Fellowship 2026 is an initiative designed to support individuals with disabilities who are part of—or adjacent to—the global Research Software Engineering (RSE) community. This fellowship provides an opportunity for disabled researchers, technologists, and contributors to participate in three major regional conferences.

    Eligibility

    Individuals who are eligible to apply include:

    • Blind, have low vision, are deaf, hard of hearing, or have other disabilities
    • Experienced career disruptions due to disabilities, caregiving, medical conditions, unemployment, or limited access to resources
    • Connected to RSE Asia, Australia/New Zealand, Africa, or Latinoamérica, as well as open science, open-source software, software development, data engineering, data curation, or data analysis

    Benefits

    Fellows will receive the following:

    • A free event ticket to their regional online conference
    • An initial payment before the event
    • Opportunity to share real-time insights via social media during the conference
    • Publication of a short open-access blog or report after the event on platforms such as Figshare or Zenodo
    • Inclusion of their report in the official event summary
