CREW, a pioneering water technology company specializing in wastewater treatment and decarbonization, is seeking a Climate & Water Initiatives Lead to join their team remotely.
This full-time role offers an exciting opportunity to drive innovative projects at the intersection of climate science, water sector engagement, and carbon market development.
The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in validating and crediting wastewater alkalinity enhancement projects, developing MRV strategies, and forging strategic partnerships to support CREW’s mission.
Key Responsibilities
MRV & Protocol Development
- Lead the development and refinement of Carbon Dioxide Removal (CDR) protocols
- Manage relationships with registries, credit buyers, governments, and standards bodies
- Oversee project validation and verification processes with third-party auditors
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure methodological accuracy and industry compliance
Water Sector Implementation
- Coordinate with engineering teams to align carbon removal operations with wastewater treatment priorities
- Monitor policy frameworks at federal, state, and international levels
- Foster relationships within the water utility ecosystem, standards organizations, and industry coalitions
Offtake & Market Engagement
- Manage application processes for CDR buyer programs and carbon marketplaces
- Track offtake pipeline, coordinate credit reporting, and ensure timely delivery to buyers
Grants & Funding
- Identify and write grant proposals for federal, state, philanthropic, and corporate funding opportunities
- Support strategic funding initiatives to accelerate project development
Candidate Profile
- 5–8+ years of experience in carbon markets, climate tech, environmental engineering, or related fields
- Proven experience working with carbon registries, credit buyers, and policy stakeholders
- Strong background in climate science, geochemistry, oceanography, or related disciplines
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and relationship-building skills
- Deep understanding of global GHG protocols and science-based carbon reduction methodologies (SBTi)
- Knowledge of Life Cycle Assessment methodologies for technology products
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with a growth mindset
- Demonstrates extreme ownership and high empathy in team collaboration
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: $90,000 – $140,000 (based on experience, skills, location)
