The African School of Governance (ASG) has officially opened applications for its 2026 Executive Leadership Programmes, offering a unique opportunity for African leaders at different stages of their journey to develop the skills, mindset, and foresight needed to drive meaningful change across the continent.
With two complementary programmes forming a single leadership pipeline, ASG is committed to nurturing both emerging changemakers and experienced leaders shaping institutions and systems across Africa.
About the Programmes
These two programmes are designed as a continuum of leadership development:
Programme 1: Leadership Fundamentals for High Performance
Target Group: Young and emerging leaders (ages 18–35)
This immersive programme focuses on building strong leadership foundations for individuals committed to creating impact in their communities, organisations, and countries. Participants will develop critical skills across three key areas:
• Leading Self: self-awareness, personal values, purpose, and resilience
• Leading Others: communication, collaboration, team leadership, and trust-building
• Leading Systems: understanding institutions, systems thinking, and driving change
Programme 2: Leading Through Strategic Foresight using Anticipatory Governance
Target Group: Mid-career to senior leaders (ages 30–55)
This executive-level programme is designed for leaders responsible for shaping institutions and navigating complex systems. Participants will gain tools to anticipate future challenges and lead effectively in uncertain environments through:
• Strategic foresight and scenario planning
• Evidence-based decision-making
• Governance of complex systems
• Designing adaptive and resilient institutions
Who Should Apply
Programme 1 welcomes applications from young leaders aged 18–35, especially women, refugees, displaced individuals, persons with disabilities, and those from underserved communities.
Programme 2 is ideal for experienced professionals aged 30–55 who are actively involved in organisational leadership, policy, or system-level change.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must be able to:
• Fully participate in the programme from 3–26 August 2026
• Attend both virtual sessions and the in-person component in Kigali, Rwanda
• Communicate effectively in English
• Meet the age requirements for their selected programme
• Submit only one application for this cycle
Programme Fee and Support
The programme fee is USD 495. A limited number of sponsored slots are available for outstanding candidates who demonstrate financial need. Applicants requesting sponsorship will be required to submit a financial statement as part of the application.

Application Deadline
All applications must be submitted by 3 July 2026. Shortlisted candidates will be contacted after the review process, and the programme will commence on 3 August 2026.
