The internship focuses on supporting GAIN’s A1 portfolio, Knowledge Leadership activities, and Dutch engagement.

Key Responsibilities

The successful intern will support a range of communication, research, and coordination activities. The role provides practical experience in translating technical evidence into accessible communication materials for different audiences.

Responsibilities will include:

Consolidating communication products across the portfolio.
Supporting the development of factsheets, website content, blogs, and other communication materials.
Assisting research and evidence activities.
Developing briefing papers that translate evaluation findings and technical evidence for non-specialist audiences.
Supporting projects and programmes associated with the A1 portfolio.
Helping organise events and sessions in the Netherlands, including activities connected to World Food Day 2026.
Writing blogs based on existing content for the Netherlands Working Group on International Nutrition.
Supporting wider communication and knowledge-sharing activities.

Through these responsibilities, the intern will gain exposure to international nutrition, food systems, evidence synthesis, communications, and programme coordination.

Eligibility and Candidate Requirements

GAIN is seeking candidates who are currently enrolled in, or have recently graduated from, a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree programme in a relevant discipline.

Candidates should have excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. They should also be capable of converting complex information relating to food systems and nutrition into clear and engaging content.

Relevant experience or skills include:

Professional or academic writing.
Literature reviews and evidence synthesis.
Developing factsheets, blogs, reports, or presentations.
Understanding of basic project management principles.
Project coordination and administrative support.
Event logistics and scheduling.
Microsoft Office and other standard office systems.

GAIN is also seeking candidates who are highly organised and able to manage multiple priorities. The ideal intern should be comfortable working independently while also contributing effectively to a diverse international team.

Stipend and Working Conditions

The internship offers a monthly stipend of EUR 747.

The successful candidate will be required to work from one of GAIN’s designated offices and must already possess the right to live and work in the country where the position is advertised.

GAIN does not provide work visa sponsorship or relocation assistance. Applicants must therefore be currently based in the Netherlands and have the existing legal right to work there.
