    Overview

    The Global Africa Translation Fellowship 2026 offers up to $5,000 to support the translation of significant works from the African continent and its diaspora into English or Arabic. This non-residential fellowship aims to increase global access to essential texts in African and African Diaspora studies.

    Benefits

    Funding ranges from $1,000 to $5,000, disbursed in two installments: one at project commencement and the second upon successful completion.

    Eligibility

    The fellowship is open to applicants from across the Global South who demonstrate strong translation capacity, academic or professional expertise, and the ability to complete the proposed work. Selection is based on the quality of the proposal, the significance of the text, feasibility, and demonstrated scholarly or translation experience.

    Requirements

    • Two-page CV/Resume including institutional affiliation, highest degree obtained, and key publications or translation works.
    • Two-page Project Summary (single-spaced, font 12) detailing the description of translation, significance of the work, justification for re-translation (if applicable), and proposed completion dates.
    • 4–5-page Sample (double-spaced, font 12) including the original text excerpt and corresponding translation.
    • Copyright Documentation: If not in the public domain, a copy of the copyright notice and a letter from the copyright holder confirming English-language rights availability.

    Attachments must not exceed 3 MB each.
