    About Global Artivism

    Global Artivism is a globally led movement harnessing arts and culture to promote justice, ecological integrity, and collective liberation.

    Led predominantly by those from the Global South, the movement emphasizes cultural activism as a catalyst for social change.

    It operates on principles of distributed power, South–South solidarity, and community-centered leadership, with a focus on transparency, emergent strategies, and intersectionality.

    Role Overview

    Global Artivism is seeking a Governance Fellow for a mentored, time-limited engagement in governance systems, democratic institutional design, and movement infrastructure development.

    The fellow will support governance documentation, committee coordination, research, and the development of processes aligned with the Democratic Transition Roadmap.

    This position offers an opportunity to contribute to a global movement committed to participatory and decentralized leadership models.

    Key Responsibilities

    Governance Documentation

    • Develop and maintain governance frameworks, committee charters, and terms of reference
    • Organize and update governance document library for accessibility
    • Prepare materials for Global Council meetings and committee sessions

    Committee Coordination Support

    • Assist with scheduling, preparing meeting materials, and documenting decisions
    • Maintain trackers for meetings, decisions, and follow-up actions
    • Facilitate communication between Secretariat and committee leads

    Democratic Transition & Electoral Support

    • Conduct research on governance models, electoral processes, and participatory mechanisms
    • Support drafting materials for the Democratic Transition Roadmap (2025–2027)
    • Track governance milestones and assist with electoral framework testing

    Governance Research

    • Explore governance models from civil society, cooperatives, and movement organizations
    • Prepare summaries and analysis on distributed governance and participatory democracy
    • Contribute to knowledge products on governance design

    Qualifications

    Required

    • Proven experience managing documentation, coordination, or facilitation within movement-building, union organizing, or community-based decision-making
    • Excellent written communication skills in English
    • Initiative-taking, independent work ethic

    • Genuine interest in governance, participatory systems, or institutional design
    • Ability to manage own schedule and compliance as an independent contractor
    • Commitment to Global Artivism’s values and principles

    Preferred

    • Background/studies in governance, law, political science, or related fields
    • Interest in Global Majority leadership and movement infrastructure
    • Experience with civil society or cultural activism
    • Multilingual skills relevant to Global South contexts

    Contractor Status & Compensation

    • Independent contractor role with flexible schedule
    • Monthly payment: USD $1,200–$1,800 upon invoicing
    • Responsible for own taxes, insurance, and local compliance
    • No employee benefits or insurance coverage from Res Publica US Inc or Global Artivism
