    About the Position

    The Grants Finance Manager will oversee the complete financial lifecycle of grant funding at Water for Good. This includes responsibilities related to budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, compliance monitoring, accounting, and grant closeout processes.

    The successful candidate will work closely with internal departments such as Grants, Operations, and Finance, as well as country finance teams, to ensure strong financial stewardship and compliance with donor regulations and organisational policies.

    Key Responsibilities

    The Grants Finance Manager will be responsible for a wide range of grant finance and compliance functions, including:

    • Managing the full lifecycle of grant funding from budget development to final reporting
    • Monitoring grant expenditures and ensuring alignment with approved donor budgets
    • Tracking restricted funds and overseeing grant financial reporting
    • Forecasting grant spending and cash flow requirements
    • Building and maintaining grant reporting systems, dashboards, and automated reporting tools
    • Supporting internal departments with grant-specific financial analysis and reporting
    • Maintaining audit-ready financial documentation and compliance records
    • Providing training and support to in-country finance teams on grant management processes
    • Strengthening internal financial controls and grant oversight systems
    • Supporting grant reviews and audit processes

    The position also involves collaboration with international teams across Water for Good’s country programmes.

    Required Qualifications

    Water for Good is seeking candidates with strong nonprofit finance and grant management experience. Applicants must demonstrate the following qualifications and competencies:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting
    • Minimum of five years of progressive experience in finance, accounting, or grant management within the nonprofit sector
    • At least three years of experience managing public and/or foundation grants
    • Strong understanding of nonprofit accounting principles and donor compliance requirements
    • Excellent analytical and organisational skills
    • Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail
    • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities effectively
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
    • Legal eligibility to work in Uganda

    The organisation has clarified that visa sponsorship will not be provided for this role.

    Preferred Qualifications

    While not mandatory, the following qualifications and technical skills will be considered advantageous:

    • Experience using Microsoft Business Central ERP systems
    • Experience using Power BI for reporting and data analysis
    • Fluency in French, both written and spoken

    Candidates with multilingual capabilities and advanced financial systems experience may have an advantage in supporting regional and international grant operations.

    Travel Requirements

    The Grants Finance Manager will be expected to travel to Water for Good country programmes when necessary to provide training, technical support, and grants management assistance.

    This international exposure provides an opportunity for the selected candidate to work directly with programme teams implementing water, sanitation, and hygiene initiatives in different operational contexts.

    Physical Requirements

    The position involves:

    • Extended periods of desk and computer work
    • Ability to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds
