The International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) has announced applications for its Graduate Finance Intern Programme, offering six internship positions for recent graduates seeking practical experience in finance, accounting, and project financial management.
The internship opportunity is based on-site in Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria, and is designed to provide young professionals with hands-on exposure to financial operations within an international agricultural research organisation.

The Graduate Finance Internship programme provides early-career professionals with the opportunity to develop practical finance skills while supporting IITA’s financial management activities.
Selected interns will work under the supervision of designated Finance Managers and Officers, gaining experience across multiple areas, including financial reporting, accounting operations, project finance, digital finance systems, and administrative support.
The programme is suitable for graduates seeking to strengthen their professional skills and gain workplace experience in an international development and research environment.
Graduate Finance Interns will support various finance-related functions, including:
Interns will assist with routine financial processes and operational activities to support effective financial management within the organisation.
Responsibilities will include supporting financial reporting processes, analysing financial information, and contributing to accurate documentation and reporting activities.
Interns will gain exposure to the management and monitoring of organisational assets and inventory records.
The role will involve supporting banking-related activities and assisting with treasury management processes.
Interns will contribute to financial activities linked to grants and research projects, including documentation, monitoring, and reporting support.
Selected candidates will gain experience using enterprise resource planning (ERP) and digital finance tools to support financial operations.
Interns will also provide general administrative assistance to finance teams as required.
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
• Hold a Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of Second Class Lower Division.
• Have a degree in one of the following fields:
• Accounting.
• Finance.
• Economics.
• Business Administration.
• Banking and Finance.
• Related disciplines.
• Possess a completed NYSC certificate.
• Have no more than two years of post-NYSC experience.
Applicants with additional professional qualifications or progress toward professional certification will have an advantage.
Relevant qualifications include:
• ATSWA.
• ICAN Foundation or Skills Level.
• ACCA Foundation or Applied Skills.
• CIMA.
• CPA or equivalent professional certifications.
Successful applicants should demonstrate:
• Basic knowledge of accounting principles.
• Understanding of financial reporting processes.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Strong numerical and analytical abilities.
• High attention to detail.
• Ability to manage financial information accurately.
