The African Forum and Network on Debt and Development (AFRODAD) has officially announced applications for its highly anticipated Internship Programme running from July to December 2026. The six-month programme presents a unique opportunity for young African graduates to gain practical experience while contributing to economic justice, sustainable development, and policy advocacy across the continent.
As Africa continues to navigate growing debt challenges, climate-related economic pressures, and the long-term impacts of global crises, AFRODAD is seeking motivated and talented individuals who are passionate about development finance, public debt management, domestic resource mobilisation, and governance reforms.
AFRODAD is a Pan-African civil society organisation dedicated to promoting responsible borrowing, transparency, accountability, and sustainable development across Africa. The organisation works with national partners in 16 African countries and collaborates with three regional economic blocs to strengthen public participation in debt governance and development finance.
Its mission focuses on ensuring that African governments adopt and implement sustainable debt policies, improve domestic resource mobilisation systems, and effectively utilise international public finance to support poverty eradication and inclusive economic growth.
With debt sustainability becoming a critical issue across the continent, AFRODAD’s internship programme aims to build a new generation of professionals committed to advancing Africa’s development agenda.
Successful candidates will join various departments within AFRODAD and contribute to ongoing projects and initiatives. Available internship positions include:
The internship programme will run for six months from July to December 2026.
Interns based in countries where AFRODAD maintains offices, including Harare, Zimbabwe, and Yaoundé, Cameroon, will work full-time from the office. Candidates located in other African countries will be offered remote working arrangements with support provided by AFRODAD to facilitate effective participation.
The internship programme is designed to provide participants with valuable professional experience while strengthening their understanding of Africa’s development challenges and opportunities.
