    Job Vacancy: Nutrition Officer

    Global Village Healthcare Initiative for Africa (GHIV Africa) is seeking qualified and dedicated professionals for the position of Nutrition Officer to support its Community-Based Nutrition Support Programme in Katsina State.

    Job Purpose

    The Nutrition Officer will provide technical leadership and field supervision for community-based nutrition activities, including the management of Tom Brown care groups, supervision of Nutrition Assistants, Community Nutrition Mobilizers (CNMs), facilitators, and Lead Mothers. The role ensures effective collaboration with Katsina State Primary Health Care Development Agency for quality programme implementation.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Programme Implementation & Supervision: Supervise Nutrition Assistants, community nutrition activities, beneficiary screening, enrolment, and follow-up. Oversee care group activities and ensure adherence to WFP Tom Brown programme standards.
    • Training & Capacity Building: Train and mentor Nutrition Assistants, facilitators, CNMs, and Lead Mothers on programme standards, MUAC screening, community-based nutrition monitoring, and hygiene practices.
    • Community Screening & Case Identification: Oversee house-to-house screening, proper enrolment of beneficiaries, and growth monitoring.
    • Programme Coordination: Liaise with KSPHCDA and other stakeholders, coordinate grain redemption, distribution of Non-Food Items, and ensure correct usage of programme data tools.
    • Monitoring & Reporting: Ensure accurate documentation, compile and submit beneficiary lists and monthly reports, and address programme incidents promptly.
    • Other Duties: Perform additional tasks as required to support programme success.

    Education & Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition, Public Health, Nursing, or a related field
    • 2–3 years of experience in community-based nutrition programs, preferably with MIYCN focus
    • Experience supervising community health workers or nutrition staff
    • Knowledge of national nutrition guidelines, MIYCN, IMAM, and integrated health-nutrition programming
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and electronic data collection
    • Fluency in English and Hausa; candidates from target LGAs preferred
